Marine Complex Deep Restorative Cream is a new advanced cosmeceutical face cream that helps to reduce the visible signs of skin aging suitably designed and created for those with sensitive skin.

Marine exopolysaccharide: Sugar molecule obtained by bio-fermentation of a marine bacterium Pseudoalteromonas. Due to its high water-binding capacity, this sugar acts as a marine alternative to hyaluronic acid. Protects the skin by retaining moisture and gives the skin a fuller, plumper, more youthful look.

Alteromonas ferment: A peptidic extract from a marine bacterium Alteromonas that lives in the deep sea (the abyssal zone). This protein derivate rich in amino-acids demonstrates strong anti-inflammatory activity, protects skin’s immune system (Langerhans cells), helps repair damaged skin through IL-1 regulation and increases collagen and elastin production. Clinical studies showed that this active molecule is excellent for sensitive, reactive, and damaged skin.

Skeletonema costatum: A microalga originated from Brittany. Rich in essential amino acids, this alga helps to reduce skin redness and prevent inflammation by inhibiting two key inflammatory mediators: IL-8 and PLA2. Excellent to counteract the painful effects of sunburn.

Undaria pinnatifida (Wakame): A brown seaweed derived from protected bay sea waters in Japan. Boosts production, maturation and binding of elastin and collagen fibres of the extracellular matrix. Promotes synthesis of hyaluronic acid. Clinical studies showed that wakame helps maintain the skin’s moisture balance, visibly reduces the appearance and volume of wrinkles, and improves skin firmness, elasticity and smoothness. Wakame also helps protect the skin against environmental aggressors.

Plankton: A marine microalga playing an important role against atmospheric pollution by absorbing large quantities of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere through the process of photosynthesis. Increases cellular respiration. Rich in essential fatty acids (building blocks of healthy cells), plankton extract provides moisture to the skin, reinforces the skin barrier, and helps restore the skin. Peptidic fraction of a plankton demonstrates anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.

Corallina officinalis: A red seaweed growing on rocky shores. Corallina demonstrates revitalizing and restorative properties due to its multifunctional activity: increases cellular oxygenation, promotes collagen production and boosts cellular cohesion. Rich in antioxidants, this seaweed protects skin from damaging free radicals.

Dulse: A red seaweed rich in minerals and vitamins. Acts as an excellent skin protector due to its strong moisturizing and regenerating properties.

Fucus serratus (Toothed wrack): A seaweed derived from the Atlantic coasts of Europe. Rich in vitamins and minerals, this seaweed helps restore the skin by boosting collagen production in fibroblasts. Fucus also demonstrates strong antioxidant activity.

A blue-green alga rich in eight amino-acids with regenerative properties. This alga is an excellent antioxidant and also is known to help reduce skin irritation and redness.

Himanthalia elongata (Thongweed or Sea spaghetti): A brown alga rich in Vitamins A, C and E along with essential amino acids and minerals. Demonstrates excellent moisturizing, repairing and anti-inflammatory properties.

Gorgonian (Sea whip): A marine plant that looks like a soft coral. Possesses powerful antiinflammatory properties and thus acts as an excellent skin-soothing marine ingredient.

Ulva lactuca (Sea lettuce): A green alga with strong antioxidant and skin-soothing properties.

Laminaria digitata (Oarweed): A large brown alga rich in alginic acid, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Demonstrates several properties: stimulates metabolic processes, increases cellular energy production and stimulates elimination of excess fluids through the increase of osmotic exchanges. Oarweed is also a good skin conditioner.

Chondrus crispus (Irish moss): A red alga derived from the rocky parts of the Atlantic coast of Europe. Rich in carrageenans, polysaccharides that act as a second skin ingredient by forming a film on the skin protecting it from water loss. Irish moss shows excellent moisturizing properties.

Gluconolactone: A polyhydroxy acid (PHA) that offers all benefits of AHAs but suitable for sensitive skin due to its gentle nature. Gluconolactone is an excellent skin conditioning agent. By binding water droplets from the air, it helps to replenish lost moisture and soften and soothe the skin. Gluconolactone also creates a protective barrier on the skin and prevents a loss of moisture. This PHA demonstrates -chelating, antioxidant, and anti-bacterial properties. Some clinical research showed that it may help to soothe rosacea-prone skin. Unlike glycolic acid, gluconolactone does not increase skin sensitivity to the sun.

Hyaluronic acid: An important natural component of skin. Zelens uses a lowmolecular weight hyaluronic acid (HA) with unique moisturizing properties. HA improves skin moisture, helps to retain, and maintain skin elasticity and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
