Beginning his career in 1985, Bertrand Duchaufour, a French perfumer trained at the Lautier Florasynth group in Grasse, spent 10 years at the Creations Aromatiques - Symrise fine fragrance department. Incredibly prolific he has designed fragrances for every possible perfume house in Europe making him one of the patriarchs of the profession.
The first fragrance he designed solo, was ‘Amber & Lavender’ for Jo Malone who was then still a newbie on the perfume market in 1995.
Bertrand’s signature style is building on opposites, appeasing them and making them work together in the final formula. While stepping up in his career as house perfumer at L'Artisan Parfumeur and then consultant at TechnicoFlor, he has been shifting from creating mainstream to one-off scents.
