At the beginning of the last century, since 1920, under the influence of economic factors, farmers began to grow "lavandin" - it is a hybrid of lavender and spike lavender.
While true lavender grows only in highlands (about 600 meters - to 2,000 meters above sea level), lavandin grows abundantly and happily in lower areas (400 - 600 meters above sea level), which makes lavandin easier to cultivate.
The yield of lavandin is several times higher than the yield of lavender. Lavandin is less susceptible to pests and diseases, also produces more essential oil than other types of lavender. As a result, lavender is usually used in pharmacy, and lavandin in the cosmetic industry (perfumes, essential oils, soaps, etc.)
