Ambergris is the gastric secretion of an adult whale and has fairly extensive geography. It was found in Brazil, Madagascar, India, Japan, China, and in the distant Moluccas. Today, the natural form of ambergris is used only for the small perfumery factories in the East. In modern perfumery only synthetic forms of ambergris are used. This ingredient is mostly used as a fragrance fixator. It makes the perfume warmer and more seductive. That's why ambergris is also called an aphrodisiac - it has an amazing effect on both men and women.
